Music Ministry

Music is a very important part of the worship ministry at Farmville Baptist Church. Here are ways that you can join in this ministry. We have an adult choir, a youth choir, a children’s choir, and a bell choir. The adult choir sings in worship every Sunday. Prospective members are encouraged to come to a rehearsal or two on Wednesday nights and give any of the choirs a try.

Sanctuary Choir

The Sanctuary Choir is open to anyone who’s interested in singing with us! We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the choir room, under the direction of Mrs. Anita Lynn. Many of our members come for the full evening, starting with the 5:45 p.m. fellowship dinner, followed by the Adult Bible Study, and then choir. We sing at least one anthem a week, sometimes more depending on the needs of the service and the difficulty of the music. Our repertoire includes a wide range of musical styles, from classical to contemporary gospel and praise music. While some of the music we sing is easily accessible, we do like to challenge the choir with a difficult piece now and then! Anyone who likes to sing is invited to join the choir!

Youth Choir

The Youth Choir rehearses during the school year on the first and third Sunday evenings of the month from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the Choir Room, under the direction of Gail Cave and Sandy Yeatts.

Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir rehearses during the school year on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., under the direction of Gail Cave. The children contribute to the worship services of Farmville Baptist Church the fourth Sunday of each month and on special Sundays.

Handbell Choir

The Handbell Choir plays during Sunday morning worship about once a month.  The Handbell Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Handbell Choir room upstairs on the third floor, under the direction of Anita Lynn, our interim choir director. Interested ringers should contact Anita.

Worship Team

Starting in September, the worship/praise band will be practicing every Sunday 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We need fill in/back up musicians and anyone who may be interested in participating in the worship band in any way. We will be working on praise and special music selections for worship services on special Sundays and contemporary services.  Please contact John Johnston (434-607-0008) if you are interested in being a part of the band.
