Collegiate

College

We welcome students from Longwood University and Hampden-Sydney College! We’re glad that you’re here. We want to invite you to these various opportunities for worship, growth and service at Farmville Baptist.

Sunday Morning Worship

Our Sunday Worship begins at 10:55 a.m., and our Farmville Baptist church van will pick up Longwood students in front of the Longwood library at 10:40 am.

Sunday School

We have a Sunday School Class starting at 9:45 am for college students. The classroom is located on the second floor of the church, Room 308.

Adopt-a-Student Ministry

We have folks in our church who love college students and who would like to provide a “home away from home” for you while you are here in college. Your adoptive family can be people you can turn to for a chance to get away from campus for a home-cooked meal, for help in time of need, for advice and support. Please contact Kerby Moore (kerbymoore1 (at) embarqmail.com), our Adopt-a-Student coordinator if you would like to be an adoptive family or be an adopted student. Visit our blog entry for our recent Adopt-a-Student cookout.

Other Ways You Can Get Involved Here

College students are a big part of the life of our church. We have college students sing in our sanctuary choir, play in our contemporary worship team, teach in our children’s Sunday School, help with childcare on Sunday mornings, assist in our Wednesday night “Bible Blitz” program for our children, and even lead in our College-Led service.

In Their Own Words . . .

Emily Caviness, Longwood sophomore

“Farmville Baptist Church is what has made Longwood feel like my home away from home. After a few weeks of attending FBC, the members joyfully gave me the financial support I needed to send me on my mission trip to China. Not only did they significantly give to me financially, before my trip they sent me letters letting me know they were praying for me. All of this support came from after only one semester of attending services. The members of FBC genuinely care about LU students and their personal walks with Christ, which anyone can tell simply by walking in the front doors of the church on a Sunday morning. Pastor Cheuk makes a point of connecting college students to the church and getting them involved, and truly cares about each person who walks in the church. FBC has made my experience at Longwood positive and purposeful! It will always have a special place in my heart.” Contact Emily at egc232 (at) longwood.edu.

Robbie Caviness, Longwood sophomore

“A home away from home, and a place to saturate an empty feeling with love is a very abridged sentiment I come to conclude about Farmville Baptist Church! I went through my first semester thinking I would be able to deal with this uncharted path of independence without help, and to a certain degree I did. Nevertheless I was moving through life with a sense of bareness, and I could not figure it out until I heard Pastor Cheuk speak at a BCM event, and was recommended to try Farmville Baptist the following Sunday. I fell in love with the unity and family feelings and affection radiating from the congregation; Immediately, I was approached, introduced and greeted by everyone around me. The outreach from the church to the college students is very warm and in my opinion that is exactly what college students need as they are being merged into an independent life full of new choices. FBC has become my family and has been there every time I have needed!” Contact Robbie at rcy821 (at) longwood.edu.
