Souper Bowl of Caring

Each Sunday in January, the youth will be collecting both canned goods and monetary donations for FACES, our local food pantry. Please drop off your contributions in the baskets at the entrances to the sanctuary.
On February 5, we will announce our total collection as part of the nationwide “Souper Bowl of Caring” effort to help feed the hungry in our community.

Serving at Farmville Baptist

At our church business meeting on April 18, George Carter (Chair), Cindy Cave, Jack Davis, Drue Martin and Sandy Yeatts were presented to serve on our Nominating Committee for 2010-2011.
This committee has the responsibility for connecting people in our church community to different ways of supporting the work and ministry of Farmville Baptist through our committee structure. The following are the committees of Farmville Baptist. If you feel that God may be leading you to serve in any of these committees or positions of service, please contact Michael or Kathy at the church office to let them know. They will pass on your interest to the Nominating Committee

Missions Awareness Sunday

On April 25, we had a Missions Awareness Sunday in worship. The following video of Reggie McNeal sharing at an “Unleashed” Conference was shown in the worship service.

Afterwards, attendees were invited to a Missions Fair in our Fellowship Hall. At the fair, there were information booths and representatives from various local ministries, community services, and Farmville Baptist ministries to share with attendees on how they can get involved in ministry and service in our community. We served “fair food” like hot dogs, snacks, popcorn, cotton candy, etc.

2/14 – Souper Bowl of Caring

On Sunday, February 14, our youth will participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring. It is an opportunity for our youth to help fight hunger and poverty in our community. At the end of the worship service, our youth will station themselves at the exits of the sanctuary holding pots to collect canned and boxed food for our church’s emergency food pantry, and money for FACES, our community food pantry.
Please plan to bring cans or monetary donations to support this effort!!

Ruth Patteson Day

Ruth Patteson was honored last Sunday, September 20, at Farmville Baptist Church for her service as Chair of Farmville Baptist’s Social Committee for the last twenty-five years. A pot-luck luncheon was held in her honor after worship, and she was presented a book of letters of appreciation.
Farmville Baptist is so grateful to Ruth for her many years of service!

Community Food Pantry

On the third Saturday of every month, a group from Farmville Baptist has been helping out at FACES (Farmville Area Community Emergency Services), our local food pantry, in packing bags of food for our neighbors. Last Saturday, we bagged over 800 bags of food. FACES is located at 416 N. South St. (the address sign on the picture is wrong!). We try to get to FACES by 7:30 am, and we’re usually finished by 10:30 a.m.
FACES appreciates ANYTHING you can give, but your monetary donations go farther than your food donations. If you give FACES a $10.00 donation, they can buy up to 67 pounds of food! For every 15¢ you donate, they can buy one pound of food from the Virginia Food Bank! All of the money you donate goes to purchasing food and making FACES run, as all workers are volunteers.

VBS 2009

On June 14-18, we held our “Crocodile Dock” Vacation Bible School. Over fifty children attended and learned about how God is with us, how God is powerful, how God does what he says he’ll do, how God gives us life, and God cares for us. The refrain for the week was “Fear Not!” We also collected canned goods and $140.95 for FACES, our local food pantry.
Many thanks to Crystal Cupp and Sandy East for directing VBS this year. And once again, a word of appreciation also goes to all our adult and youth volunteers!

Serving at Farmville Baptist

At our quarterly business meeting last Sunday (April 15), church members in attendance approved the following members to serve on our Nominating Committee for 2012-2013: Janet Southall, Becky Kelly, Mary Jo Chassey, Kevin Dunn and David Schmidt. This committee has the responsibility for connecting people in our church community to different ways of supporting the work and ministry of Farmville Baptist through our committee structure.
The following are the committees of Farmville Baptist. If you feel that God may be leading you to serve in any of these committees or positions of service, please contact Michael or Kathy at the church office to let them know.
