College Led Worship
Posted on November 23rd, 2008
This Sunday, over twenty Longwood students led our worship service. They played in a bell choir, sang in a quartet, played the piano and organ, led choruses as a worship team, read scripture, offered prayers, and gave the children’s lesson with a skit. Senior Jordan Miles presented the message.
After the service, around sixty students enjoyed a luncheon in our fellowship hall. Many thanks to Kerby Moore and the College Committee for organizing such a wonderful lunch!
What a blessing it is to have college students at our church, whether to join us in worship and to lead us in worship!

All Saints Sunday 2008
Posted on November 3rd, 2008
We celebrated All Saints Sunday yesterday in our morning worship service by giving thanks to God for the members of Farmville Baptist Church who have since gone on to be with their Lord. But we also recognized and gave thanks for those still in our midst who have greatly contributed to the life of Farmville Baptist. We formally recognized Cecil Yeatts as a new Life Deacon, and we presented five members of the church with our “Good and Faithful Servant” recognition: Jack Austin, Paul Cave, Howard Ferguson, Alma Lewis and Ruth Patteson. These five individuals have given a combined 300 plus years of service to Farmville Baptist and to Christ’s Kingdom! We thank God for them! After the service, the congregation gathered for a covered dish fellowship in honor of these individuals.
Pictured above from left to right: Howard Ferguson, Ruth Patteson, Cecil Yeatts, Alma Lewis and Jack Austin. Paul Cave was not able to attend the service as he is still recuperating from pneumonia.

Adopt-a-Student Cookout ‘08
Posted on September 15th, 2008
Yesterday, we had our Adopt-a-Student Cookout at the home of Kerby and Janet Moore. We had a great turnout, and around 24 students were “adopted” by church members! The crowd enjoyed great conversation and plenty of food! It was a wonderful way to welcome our students back to Farmville Baptist.
Once again, many thanks to Kerby, Janet and Jewel Moore for inviting us to their home!

Church Picnic 2008
Posted on August 24th, 2008
This afternoon, we had our annual church picnic at Brookleigh Country Club. We had 98 people attend, including guests from The Woodland, Southside Home for men, and Zion Hill Baptist Church.
We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon swimming in the pool, playing golf, and catching up with each other. At 5:30 p.m., we enjoyed a bounty of food contributed by members of the congregation.
Once again, many thanks to Ruth Patteson and the social committee, Chuck Daniel and Patti Trent for putting the picnic all together.

Church Picnic 2007
Posted on August 27th, 2007

This past Sunday afternoon, we had over 100 people attend our annual church picnic at Brookleigh Country Club. Even though it rained earlier in the afternoon, it did not dampen the spirits of those who attended. Our kids really enjoyed the swimming pool, and our adults had a great time of conversation. Ruth Patteson and the Social Committee did a magnificent job in organizing the event. And of course, being a Baptist Church, folks brought an abundance of food! What a reminder of the abundant grace and provisions that our Lord provides us. Read the rest of this entry »
