11/14 – College-Led Service

On Sunday, November 14, our college students will lead in our morning worship. College students from Longwood university and Hampden-Sydney College will read scripture, pray, present special music, and lead in congregational singing.
Aaron Van Allen (pictured left), one of our Hampden-Syndey students, will be giving the message.
After the service, there will be a free luncheon in the Fellowship Hall for all our students and their adoptive parents.

Children’s Hayride 2010

Farmville Baptist Church will be hosting a Children’s Hayride on Sunday, October 24, from 3:30 p.m. to around 5:30 p.m. at 952 Lockett Rd. There will be “fall festival” games for children to play.
Please bring a covered dish to share and please bring lawn chairs!

Directions to the Hayride:
From Farmville take 460 East, go past Trinity Memorial Gardens on your right
Turn LEFT on County Road 600 (if you get to Rt. 307 you have gone too far).
The road will fork.
Veer LEFT on County Road 619 (Lockett Rd.)
Look for a hayfield on your right at 952 Lockett Rd.
If you get lost, contact Wayne Wallace for directions 390-7818 (cell).

“Building Strong Relationships”

Starting September 5, Pastor Michael Cheuk will be leading a Sunday morning class in the Fellowship Hall from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. called “Building Strong Relationships.” It is especially designed for college students and young adults (singles and couples) who are dating or thinking about marriage, and for couples wanting to enrich their marriage.
During these four weeks, the following topics will be addressed:
9/5 “Understanding Myself”
9/12 “Communication is the Key”
9/19 “Money Habitudes” (requires “Money Habitudes” cards, $10)
9/26 “Dealing with Stress and Conflict”
Cost is $10 for couples; $5 for singles for the purchase of “Money Habitudes” cards needed for the third session of class. Scholarships are available. Please contact Michael if you’re interested in enrolling in the class.

8/31 – Preschool Open House

Place: Farmville Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall and Preschool Department
Our preschool will host an open house for all preschool students, their parents and any interested individuals on Tuesday, August 31. Students will meet their teachers and parents will receive a general orientation to the preschool.

8/29 – Church Picnic

Annual Church Picnic
Sunday, August 29, 2010
3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Gee Price Center of The Fuqua School (see map below)
You are invited to our annual church picnic at the Gee-Price Center of the Fuqua School from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. for an afternoon of swimming, food and fellowship!
Dinner will be served in the air-conditioned Gee Price Center at 5:30 p.m. The church will provide drink, meat and bread. Please bring casseroles, vegetables, and/or desserts to share. Invite your friends!
Help us to order the right amount of meat with a RSVP to the church office (392-5041) by Monday, August 23!
Those who would like to swim, but are not members of the Fuqua Pool, must respond to Janet Moore (at 392-6727). If we have more than 15 swimmers we will get the group rate of $5/per person otherwise the cost will be $7/per person.

6-27 VBS!

6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
For ages 3 to completed 5th grade
Cost: Free
Register now by contacting the church office at 392-5041 or online.
Participants: Parents and older siblings are welcome to participate in our Egyptian families, too. So pass the word to children and all parents with children.
Volunteers: We need adult & teenage musicians, teachers, helpers, shopkeepers (i.e. crafts & food) to lead a variety of Bible-times activities.
Donations/Loan: We need the following to accomplish the Egyptian theme: baskets, costume jewelry, small tents, white sheets, blankets, terra cotta pots, urns, men’s large white T-shirts, burlap sacks, glue, ink pads. Of course, financial donations are also appreciated.
Prayers: Last, but not least, we need you to pray that God will direct this viable mission for the advancement of his kingdom!

Serving at Farmville Baptist

At our church business meeting on April 18, George Carter (Chair), Cindy Cave, Jack Davis, Drue Martin and Sandy Yeatts were presented to serve on our Nominating Committee for 2010-2011.
This committee has the responsibility for connecting people in our church community to different ways of supporting the work and ministry of Farmville Baptist through our committee structure. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!
Total Cost: $235 (minus $60 deposit and fundraising amount credited to camper’s account)
Children who have completed 3rd grade through 6th grade are eligible for Passport Kids.
Payment Deadline: Sunday, April 25, 2010. (Parents and youth will receive a notification by April 18 letting them know exactly how much each camper still owes for camp.)
