<p>During these four weeks, the following topics will be addressed:</p>
<p>9/5       “Understanding Myself”<br />
 9/12     “Communication is the Key”<br />
 9/19     “Money Habitudes” (requires “<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Money-Habitudes-Target-Habits-Attitudes/dp/0974253103/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1282850168&amp;sr=8-2" target="_blank">Money Habitudes</a>” cards, $10)<br />
 9/26     “Dealing with Stress and Conflict”</p>

<h2><span style="color: #000080;">Job Description</span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #800000;"><strong>SANCTUARY AND HANDBELL CHOIR DIRECTOR</strong></span></p>
<p>(Part time: approx. 8-10 hours per week)</p>
<p><strong>REPORTS TO:</strong> Pastor &amp; Personnel Committee</p>
<p><strong>DUTIES:</strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Sanctuary Choir</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Choose appropriate anthems      for weekly worship services, plus occasional introits/choral calls to      worship and benedictions.</li>
<li>Choose hymns for Sunday      morning worship service.</li>
<li>Select service music where      appropriate, i.e. calls to prayer and prayer responses, amens,      meditations, “connective music.”</li>
<li>Lead weekly choir      rehearsals.</li>
<li>Lead choir in worship.</li>
<li>Lead congregation in      worship through music.</li>
<li>Communicate with organist      and other musicians about hymns and other special music.</li>
<li>Arrange for soloists,      small ensembles, and other instrumentalists when appropriate.</li>
<li>Communicate anthem      information to secretary for bulletin.       Assist with proofreading anthem texts for bulletin.</li>
<li>Consult with minister(s)      as needed to plan worship/create a variety of worship experiences.</li>
<li>Secure substitute organists/accompanists      during the absences of the church organist.</li>
<li>Maintain music library      (both physical and electronic).</li>
<li>Assist others in finding      music when requested.</li>
<li>Adhere to copyright laws,      and use such resources such as Christian Copyright Licensing International      (CCLI) to remain within the parameters of ethical and legal use of copyrighted      materials.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Handbell Choir</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Select appropriate      handbell/handchime music, to be offered during worship 6-12 times per      year. </li>
<li>Recruit and train handbell      ringers in proper ringing techniques and proper care of handbells.</li>
<li>Lead regular handbell      rehearsals.</li>
<li>Prepare all music for      rehearsals.</li>
<li>Responsible for set up,      tear down and storage of bell tables, pads, table covers, and other      equipment, when handbells play in worship.</li>
<li>If handbell selections      will be played as the prelude, offertory or postlude, coordinate with      organist several weeks ahead of time.</li>
<li>Oversee routine      maintenance of handbells, handchimes and equipment.</li>
<li>Offer opportunities for      handbell ringers to attend regional workshops and festivals. </li>

<p>You are  invited to our annual church  picnic at the Gee-Price Center  of the Fuqua   School from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.  for an afternoon of swimming, food and  fellowship!</p>
<p>Dinner will  be served in the  air-conditioned Gee  Price Center at 5:30 p.m.  The  church will provide  drink, meat and bread.  Please bring casseroles,  vegetables, and/or  desserts to share.  Invite your friends!</p>
<p><strong>Help us to order the right amount of meat with a RSVP to the church office (392-5041) by Monday, August 23!</strong></p>
<p><strong>Those who  would like to swim, but  are not members of the Fuqua Pool, must respond  to Janet Moore (at  392-6727).  If we have more than 15  swimmers we will  get the group rate of $5/per person otherwise the cost  will be $7/per  person.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Volunteers</strong>:   We need adult &amp; teenage musicians, teachers, helpers, shopkeepers   (i.e. crafts &amp; food) to lead a variety of Bible-times activities.</p>
<p><strong>Donations/Loan</strong>:   We need the following to accomplish the Egyptian theme:  baskets,   costume jewelry, small tents, white sheets, blankets, terra cotta pots,   urns, men’s large white T-shirts, burlap sacks, glue, ink pads.  Of   course, financial donations are also appreciated.</p>
<p><strong>Prayers</strong>:   Last, but not least, we need you to pray that God will direct this   viable mission for the advancement of his kingdom!</p>

<p>This committee has the responsibility for connecting people in our  church community to different ways of supporting the work and ministry  of Farmville Baptist through our committee structure. The following are the committees of Farmville Baptist.  If you feel  that God may be leading you to serve in any of these committees or  positions of service, please contact <a href="http://tinyurl.com/5rtzzl" target="_blank">Michael</a> or <a href="http://tinyurl.com/5uqpyv" target="_blank">Kathy</a> at the church office to let them know. They will pass on your interest  to the Nominating Committee</p>

<h2><span style="color: #000080;">Committees  of Farmville Baptist</span></h2>
<p><strong>The  Stewardship Committee</strong> shall consist of eight (8) members  which include the Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and six (6) members  elected at large.</p>
<p>A.        It shall serve as the Committee of Management of the  financial resources of the church.</p>
<p>B.         It shall strive to develop in church members an  understanding of and commitment to the biblical concepts of individual  and corporate stewardship. The committee will utilize all functions of  the church, including worship, ministry, proclamation, education, and  application, to accomplish its objectives.</p>
<p>C.        The committee shall prepare an annual budget which will be  presented to the congregation for adoption during the month of November.</p>
<p>D.        Regular reports of this committee will be made to the  church by the chairman.</p>
<p><strong>The  Property Committee</strong> shall consist of six (6) members or  watchcare members and the Custodian as a non-voting member. The duties  of this committee shall be that of maintenance and upkeep of property,  as well as that of caring for the beautification and cleanliness of the  church.</p>
<p><strong>The  Music and Worship Committee</strong> shall consist of six (6)  members, whose duty shall be to develop the music ministry with the  assistance of the music minister and choir director, assist the  ministerial staff in evaluating and planning worship services (like the  Hanging of the Greens, Advent and Lenten candle services, Holy Week  services, and Laity Sunday) and to assist candidates for baptism and  preparing monthly the elements of the Lord&#8217;s Supper.</p>
<p><strong>The  Social Committee</strong> shall consist of eight (8) members or  watchcare members. It shall be the duty of this committee to be in  charge of all social functions of the church (including the church-wide  picnic in August, church-wide meals, Good Friday soup lunch, special  fellowships, meals after funerals, etc.).</p>
<p><strong>The Farmville Baptist Preschool Education Committee</strong> shall consist of three (3) members who will serve a  three-year term as appointed by the Nominating Committee, the chair or representative of the Personnel Committee and the following ex-officio members (non-voting): Pastor, Farmville Baptist Preschool Executive Director and a Farmville Baptist Preschool parent representative.  The committee shall meet at least quarterly and duties shall include:<br />
 1. Create, oversee and evaluate the organizational structure of the Farmville Baptist Preschool.<br />
 2. Interview and hire, or release staff as recommended by the Director;<br />
 3. Review and approve budgets presented by the Director;<br />
 4. Ensure adherence to Farmville Baptist Preschool mission and goals; and<br />
 5. Create regular reports for the quarterly Farmville Baptist Church business meetings.</p>
<p><strong>The  Children&#8217;s Advisory Committee</strong> shall consist of six (6)  members or watchcare members, in addition to an Extended Sessions  Director. This also places the responsibility of finding this Director  on the Children&#8217;s Advisory Committee and not the Nominating Committee.   (In the past, this committee has been in charge of organizing the  Thanksgiving Baskets, children&#8217;s fellowship activities, children camp  fundraisers.)</p>
<p><strong>The  Youth Advisory Committee</strong> shall consist of five (5) members  or watchcare members (3 adults who shall be rotating members and 2  teenagers chosen yearly by the youth.) Their function shall be to plan  and implement programs and activities for the youth ministry of the  church (like youth camp fundraisers, mission and service projects,  fellowship activities and trips).</p>
<p><strong>The  College Advisory Committee</strong> shall consist of three (3) member  or watchcare members plus one student representative, whose function  shall be to plan and implement programs and activities for the  college-affiliated students (like college luncheons, end-of-semester  goodie bags, Fall college cookout and Adopt-a-Student program).</p>
<p><strong>The  Flower Committee</strong> shall consist of three (3) members or  watchcare members who shall be responsible for floral decorations in the  sanctuary during worship services, and implementing such policy as the  church has in regard to floral contributions to bereaved and ill.</p>
<p><strong>The  Personnel Committee</strong> shall consist of six (6) members who  shall be responsible for maintaining policy approved by the church  regarding employed personnel of the church for determining and  recommending need of necessary employees; for maintaining adequate job  descriptions; for filling vacancies of offices of all employed personnel  (except pastor); and for helping maintain proper staff relationships.</p>
<p><strong>The  Constitution Committee</strong> shall consist of three (3) members.  It shall be the duty of this committee to continually study the  constitution of the church and consider recommendations from the  membership for any changes it deems appropriate for the orderly  development of the church.</p>
<p><strong>The  Missions and Outreach Committee</strong> shall consist of six (6)  members or watchcare members. It shall be the duty of this committee to  envision, plan for and carry out the mission projects of the church. In  addition it will be the duty of this committee to coordinate the  outreach efforts of the church as we recognize that indeed Outreach is a  part of our Missions objective.  (In the past, this committee has  organized the Heifer International Project, Angel Tree, lunch for  Habitat, highway cleanup, flu shots for the community, FACES, etc.)</p>
<h2><span style="color: #000080;">Other  Positions of Service</span></h2>
<p><strong>Sunday  School Director</strong> &#8211; shall consist of a church member who is  responsible for working with the Sunday School teachers and Jack Austin  in ordering literature, promoting the enrollment of new students,  keeping track of attendance and participation of students, providing  training and support for each Sunday School class.</p>
<p><strong>Ushers</strong> &#8211; shall consist of any regular attending individual who would like to  be trained in being responsible for greeting and handing out worship  bulletins before the worship service, directing late-coming worshippers  to their seats during worship, directing worshippers to the nearest  exits in case of fire or emergencies, and to address disruptive  individuals during the worship service.</p>
<p><strong>Tellers</strong> &#8211; shall consist of church members who will count the offering plate  collection and tithe, report the amount to the office manager and  deposit the collection early in the week after every worship service.</p>

<p><strong>Total Cost: $235 </strong>(minus $60 deposit and fundraising amount  credited to camper&#8217;s account)</p>
<p>Children who have completed 3rd grade through 6th grade are eligible for Passport Kids.</p>
<p><strong>Payment Deadline:</strong> Sunday, April 25, 2010.  (Parents and youth  will receive a notification by April 18 letting them know exactly how much  each camper still owes for camp.)</p>

<h2><span style="color: #800000;">Sunrise Service at Zion Hill Baptist, 6 a.m.</span></h2>
<p>We will join Zion Hill Baptist Church for their 6 a.m. sunrise service.  Zion Hill Baptist is located on County Road 628, about 1.5 miles past the Prince Edward County School complex.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #800000;">Fellowship Breakfast at Farmville Baptist, 8:45 to 9:30 a.m.</span></h2>
<p>The men from Farmville Baptist and Zion Hill Baptist will serve a hearty breakfast buffet-style in the Fellowship Hall of Farmville Baptist Church.  Please contact the <a href="http://tinyurl.com/5uqpyv" target="_blank">church office</a> (392-5041) to RSVP for the breakfast.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #800000;">Joint Morning Worship Service at Farmville Baptist, 10:55 a.m.</span></h2>
<p>Members of Zion Hill and Farmville Baptist will come together for the Easter morning worship service at Farmville Baptist Church.  Leaders from both churches will lead in the service.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #800000;">Easter Lilies</span></h2>
<p>If you would like to purchase an Easter Lily in memory or in honor of a loved one to be placed the sanctuary for the Easter season, please contact the <a href="http://tinyurl.com/5uqpyv" target="_blank">church office</a> (392-5041).  The cost is $14.00.  It can be picked up after the Easter Sunday service.</p>
