Rev. Dr. Michael Cheuk, Pastor
Michael Cheuk, our Pastor, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and his M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. In 2004, he completed his Ph.D. in Religious Ethics at the University of Virginia. He is also a Christian Leadership Coach certified by the Valwood Christian Leadership Coaching Program at Hollifield Leadership Center. He became the Pastor at Farmville Baptist on August 1, 2005. Before moving to Farmville, he served as an Associate Minister at University Baptist Church in Charlottesville, and as a Baptist Student Union Director at two community colleges in Texas. He and his wife Beth have two young children. Michael has a weblog that contains sermons and musings about faith and life.
Sandy Yeatts,Choir Director
Sandy Yeatts, our Choir Director, earned her Bachelor of Music Education from Longwood College in 1992 and her Master of Science in 1997. Sandy has previously served as Choir Director at her home church, Spring Creek Baptist in Darlington Heights, and as Choir Director at Farmville Baptist from 2003 to 2005. She is currently the Administrative Secretary to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at at Hampden-Sydney College. She and her husband, Kim, joined Farmville Baptist Church in Nov. 2, 1997, and live near Hampden-Sydney.
Dr. B. McRae Amoss, Jr., Organist
A native of Georgia, Mc Amoss first remembers becoming fascinated with church organs around the age of six. A church musician since the age of 13, when he became the accompanist for his church’s children’s choir, he later became the church’s pianist and then its organist. He came to the University of Virginia to do graduate study in French language and literature. He completed his Ph.D. in 1990 and in 1991 joined the faculty of Longwood University, where he is a professor of French. He became the organist of Farmville Baptist in 1992.
Matt Fuller, Student Ministry Intern
Hello my name is Matthew Fuller, I am the new intern for Farmville Baptist. I am in charge of leading the church’s youth group. I am a 5th year senior at Longwood University studying Public History. I was previously a photography major, and photography and art remain favored hobbies of mine.
Kathy Dunnavant,Office Manager
Kathy Dunnavant our Office Manager is a native of this area and is back with the Farmville Baptist Church for the second time as Secretary/Office Manager. Kathy first served as our secretary from 1968-1971. After retiring from state service Kathy has return once again to serve the congregation. During her service to the Commonwealth of Virginia Kathy worked for the Virginia Department of Forestry for 22 years and Longwood University for 8 years. Kathy and her husband Stuart have been married for 25 years and live in Cumberland.
Al Schmidt,Custodian
Al Schmidt, our custodian, is a life-long resident of Farmville and a long time member of Farmville Baptist. He retired from Dominion Power after thirty-six years of service there.
