We cordially invite you to be our guest this Sunday morning! We hope the following information is helpful to you as you prepare to visit Farmville Baptist.
9:45 am…………Sunday School (all ages)
10:55 am……….Preparation for Worship
We gather for worship in our sanctuary on Sunday mornings at 10:55 a.m. We have a “liturgical-traditional” worship style that may be characterized by a thoughtful reverence that still connects to the heart. While you will be encouraged to fill out a guest registration card and a fellowship register during the service, you are under no obligation to do so. We also will not ask you to stand or raise your hand to identify yourself as a guest during the service! We emphasize a Gospel of grace as taught and lived out by our Lord Jesus Christ, and we trust the Holy Spirit to work in your life to respond and live out that Gospel in a way that is uniquely yours. Therefore, we will not try to emotionally manipulate people to “make a decision for Christ” or to feel or respond in a certain way.
Each worship gathering (averaging 110-120 people) is centered on a theme usually based upon the assigned scriptural readings of the Revised Common Lectionary. We sing mostly hymns from the 1991 Baptist Hymnal accompanied by an organ and/or piano. We follow the Christian calendar and we celebrate the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter and Pentecost.
Even though we’re somewhat “high church,” our worship services also periodically incorporate contemporary songs, dramatic presentations, congregational participatory exercises and other ways to engage the five senses and the whole person. The aim of each worship experience is to re-present faithfully the drama of God’s redeeming work and to inspire worshippers to ascribe worth to God and to join in what God is doing in our world.
While many of our members wear “Sunday clothes,” there is NO dress code. Come as you are!
We also have Sunday School classes for all ages that begins at 9:45 a.m. and concludes at around 10:40 a.m. Please visit this link for the classes that are offered.
Farmville Baptist is located in the heart of downtown Farmville, on 132 North Main Street, between the County Courthouse and Pairet’s, and within walking distance from both Longwood University and Green Front Furniture.
For driving directions to the church, we have a Google Map to help direct your way. On that map, right click on the blue marker and choose “Directions to here.”
While we have limited off-street parking right in front of the church on Main Street, we have plenty of parking behind the church building. You can access the church parking lot by East Third Street. There are also open lots free on Sundays that are across the street behind the church.

Entrances to the Church
For Sunday morning worship, most people who park on Main Street enter the sanctuary through the front steps. Those who park behind the church building enter in the back entrance.
If you enter from the back, go up a flight of steps and the sanctuary will be to your right.
We have two handicap-accessible entrances–one from Main Street that will take you to the sanctuary, and the other from the back parking lot that will take you into the Fellowship Hall.[Gallery not found]
In addition to our handicapped accessible doors, we also have a stair lift that can assist an individual to access both the main Sanctuary and Church Office level and the lower Fellowship Hall and Preschool Department level from within the building.
Childcare for infants through preschoolers in our Preschool Department during the Sunday morning worship service. The Preschool Department is located downstairs across from the Fellowship Hall.
After the Children’s Lesson in worship, children ages kindergarten through second grade are invited to a Children’s Worship Service in the Fellowship Hall. Those children will return to the sanctuary and be reunited with their parents during the singing of the Doxology at the end of the worship service. For more information about children’s church, please visit this link.
On every third Sunday, children grades one through five participate in Missions Education down in the Fellowship Hall during worship.
